So today is the last day. James took the girls fishing for a bit, we enjoyed a family lunch, I have been studying and watching nursing school skills videos. (how to bathe pt in bed, how to make the bed, how to take a blood pressure) Wish this last day was about 48 hours longer, but it's not. So we will make the most of what we have and get everything ready for the morning tonight because you know it's not going to be welcomed when it comes. My first day will start earlier than I'm used to. Probably around 5 so I can make sure I make it in time. :) Hope you all enjoy your "last day". Happy New Year to all! May it be happy and healthy!

I am a nursing student.
Today is my first official day as a nursing student. My finals for fall ended yesterday and today I started on my long list of assignments that are due before my first day. This will all be accomplished in the midst of school performances, class parties, the tons of Christmas shopping and baking still to be done, a few girl scout activities, Christmas, anniversary and New Years (I won't get into all the ordinary chores that also have to be done!). I was naive enough to think that going into this holiday break I would get just that, a break. How funny I am! So I will trudge through and prepare for a stressful start to my nursing academics. That first week we are learning about taking manual blood pressures and the guy next to me at orientation said that he heard it's a difficult skill to master.... I hope I can handle it. Don't get me started on occupied bed making! Hope you all enjoy your Christmas "break". I'm going to squeeze the most I can out of mine!

What talking really means
"Daddy I know what you mean by talking.". Daddy says, "What's that, #3?" "Kissing!" *giggle* *giggle*
Life with kids is never boring. That was Saturday when we sent her upstairs so we could really just talk about things not meant for little ears. Today is Monday, though, and in between normal have to do life stuff like getting financial aid paperwork turned in for RN school, picking up kids, and buying new boots for the spouse, we reflected on the life of my FIL. An amazing man who is dearly missed even now, 10 years after his sudden passing. We replaced the flowers on his headstone, then celebrated his life with a dear old family friend who's birthday happens to fall on the same day and who looked up to him like a father, by eating ribs and pinto beans finished off with Fried Apple Pies. It was delicious and I think it turned out to be an all around good day.

The picture really doesn't do it justice but it's an old family favorite of my spouse's and he and his dad used to eat these as quick as my MIL's mom could make them. I like mine with a little bit of bluebell. Yumo!

Pictures for us
Today we had family photos. The plan was to take a few pictures at the house with the MIL and our dogs then head out to the park and the fire station for some more pictures of just the five of us. I wanted to show Cara the neighbor's beautiful yard and we took so many great pictures there we decided to finish up with just the fire station. We opened the doors and took some great pics inside with the museum trucks and outside with the doors shut. I told her how I saw a photographer using the side of the old building for some pictures the other day so we went over there and took this

I love it! I can't wait to see the rest that she took. We spent the rest of the day doing chores and taking #1 to gymnastics (where she did her standing back handspring unspotted) and painting the new garage shelves the spouse put up. All in all good day.
Oh, and in case you were wondering the double baby thing went off without a hitch yesterday. Still got my touch! (and 3 extra sets of hands, lol)

I'm blogging!
So this is the start of our story. My oldest will be mad because I'll only have a few years covered for her (she's 13), but it can't be helped. I'm doing this mostly for myself. If friends and family want to keep up with us feel free to read and comment, this is mostly to supplement my terrible memory! Might as well put this phone to more use. I have a feeling some of my memory cells are about to be lost to RN school.
I am currently getting last minute information and requirements together for my processing into RN school in November, it's exciting and scary all at once. It has only taken me 15 years to get to this point so you'd think I'd be prepared, but I'm not. In the midst of that chaos I am finishing Microbiology and Algebra 1. All 3 girls are taking gymnastics - #1 3 nights a week - and they are all in girl scouts and I'm leading #2's troop. The spouse is up to his usual tricks, only working one full time job right now. He has training next week for his helo job, but most of his free days he spends helping me and his mom out. We are living with MIL now, it's a win-win situation for both sides and goes well...usually. I spend some of my free time babysitting a baby for friends of ours and have really enjoyed getting to know the little guy. He's 5 months old now and a sweet little guy to watch. Tomorrow I'll have him and another friend's one year old for a few hours. Should be interesting since my youngest is 8 and I haven't had 2 little ones at the same time in a LONG time. Saturday morning I am super excited to be getting our family pictures done by C.Lynn Photography I can't wait to see them! She's done our pics for a few years now and they always turn out great. Well, that's it my first post. #1 is climbing in the car, so until next time.
